Comprised of equal parts of Petite Sirah and Zinfandel, these grapes were picked at a lower Brix than is typical for an Amador Fortified Wine. This preserves the acidity needed to create a balanced Port that is deliciously sweet but not overly cloying. This wine has balance and depth with aromas of violet, cocoa, and a little baking spice. Pair with stilton cheese or any dark chocolate for a wonderfully decadent desert. (500ml)
Warm weather was made for this wine. This 2020 vintage is a delightfully aromatic wine with fragrances of rose and fresh strawberry on the nose, and hints of green apple on the palate. It is a light-bodied, easy drinking wine with fresh acidity and a long pleasant finish, making it the consummate summer thirst quencher.
Winner of a Gold Medal for 2022 in the largest wine competion of American wines in the world, the SF Chronicle Wine Competition.
This Portuguese varietal is a wonderfully aromatic array of rich tropical and stone fruit aromas. Peaches, apricots, melons, citrus are all there for the discerning oenophile to savor. It offers a refreshingly pleasant alternative to Chardonnay with an elegant body, crisp acidity, and lingering finish that make it a natural pairing for seafood and Asian salads.
A prior vintage of this fine wine (along with three other wines from some of the best Amador wineries) was featured on a Facebook live event. Click HERE to check it out.
This Italian varietal has established itself as the signature grape of the Sierra Foothills, and ours won a Gold Medal for 2022 at the largest competion of American wines in the world, the SF Chronicle Wine Competition. Our 2018 vintage expresses lush red fruit aromas, primarily red currant and bing cherry with slight hints of vanilla. This wine is a pleasure to drink: round mouthfeel, firm tannins, and a crisp acidity that drives the flavors across the palate to the rich, oaky, lingering finish. Fire up the barbecue and enjoy with grilled meats - perfection!
This Tempranillo expresses classic aromas of red and black currant with a touch of ripe cherry. On the palate, the red fruit picks up an earthy overtone that is amplified by the crisp, lively acidity. It is medium bodied and the soft, integrated tannins carryover into a lingering, fruity finish that beckons another sip.
An offspring of the Croatian grape Crljenak and a clone of Zinfandel, research indicates that Primitivo was initially selected for its early ripening tendencies. (What that means is that the wine is delicious.) Those ripening characteristics produce subtle differences with more spice and pepper overtones. On the palate, the wine presents red currants, sour cherries and a lively acidity, with crisp, lingering, food-friendly soft tannins. Our estate grown grapes produce a rich, ripe, flavorful, full-bodied wine that pairs well with BBQ meats and lazy afternoons with friends.
Look who won another GOLD MEDAL. Yep, we keep making winners from our very own Barbera grapes; grown right here on our very own estate. This vintage of Petite Sirah is a big wine with complex flavors that start with aromas of black currant, bing cherry and overtones of toast. The fruit continues on the palate enlivened by crisp acidity and firm tannins that linger in the finish. Still in it's youth, this wine will only improve with a little more time in the cellar.
Our proprietary blend of Zinfandel and Sangiovese has rich aromas of blackberry and other dark fruits on the nose, but also some hints of strawberry on the pallet. This wine is big and full bodied, with light sweet oak overtones. The firm and well integrated tannins are balanced by a fresh acidity which prolong a complex fruity finish. Picnics and BBQ are this Hussy’s table fare.
This release is a fruity, balanced wine that should please fans of Zinfandel. It shows plenty of black currant and blackberry aromas with just a hint of almond, adding in complexity. Full bodied with a round mouthfeel and pleasant acidity. The firm tannins combine with overtones of toast and coffee on the palate and the lingering finish shows hints of vanilla.
This wine is ideal with pretty much anything on your grill. Try it with grilled shrimp wrapped up in Pancetta. Serve it with a spicy bbq sauce and you are set!
This vintage starts with aromas of bright fruits, primarily red and black currant with slight overtones of raspberry. On the palate, ripe bing cherry comes to the fore with fresh acidity, a medium bodied mouthfeel and lively tannins that carry into a lingering finish. Load up the plate with meatballs; this wine is more of a Super Tuscan style than a Chianti.
What's red, perfectly balanced, delicious and fun? Our Mystery Wine.
We'd love to tell you exactly what this is, but only our winemaker knows for sure, and he's not telling. We do know that out of our 23 estate-grown varietals, the winemaker is often partial to Barbera and Sangiovese, but who really knows. We do know that he loves to find interesting blends and we are so happy he put his labor of love in a bottle to share. Pairs well with grilled meats, pizza and the one you love.
Our Nebbiolo earned "Best of Class" at the Amador County Fair, 2021. An interesting Italian varietal that is typically finicky as heck to grow, but thanks to our lovingly-tended estate grown grapes and expertise from our winemaker, we've knocked this one out of the park.
